| The phi ma with his chanting is giving directions to the deceased on how to get back to his ancestral lands. Since the Akha people have migrated over thousands of years from China and Tibet, and the directions are very detailed, the chanting takes a long time. It is a long road to go home, and fortunately, the deceased will have help from his ancestors in getting there. |
