While more than 200,000 people start to line up on the banks of the river to garner a good spot for watching the battle, a parade of characters walks the streets of Yonezawa City. This squire leads this official and his horse as part of an entourage that includes traditional Japanese drummers, the young and old people of Yonezawa in traditional garb, and even a horse-bound Albanian student of the local technical college.
